Montenegro has extradited an Iranian-Turkish dual national to the United States over alleged cyberattacks targeting more than 150 U.S. universities and causing an estimated $3.4 billion in damage
It is accused of causing $3.4 billion in damage to the U.S., and the stolen data, as well as access to compromised university accounts, were used to benefit the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and other Iranian beneficiaries, including Iranian-based universities.
As they recall, the police located and arrested A.B. June 25, 2026, upon a direct warrant for arrest issued by the competent authorities of the United States and the Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
