Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with the chief ministers of Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir to review the situation and assured them of all possible assistance from the Centre. The downpour also drenched the national capital, leaving several areas waterlogged and slowing traffic across the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued red and orange alerts for Delhi, warning of more thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and heavy rain in several districts. Mumbai also continued to reel under waterlogging as persistent rainfall affected normal life in parts of the city. In Uttarakhand, the IMD issued an orange alert warning of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Haridwar, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Pauri, Chamoli, Almora and Bageshwar districts.
