Monsoon session of Bihar Assembly proceedings adjourned till July 22 after paying obituary references
PATNA, BIHAR, JUL 21 – Opposition MLAs protested alleged voter list manipulation and rising crime, with 95.92% of electors covered in the Special Intensive Revision, ahead of Bihar Assembly elections.
- The Bihar Legislative Assembly convened for its five-day monsoon sitting in Patna on July 21, 2025, and proceedings were suspended until July 22 following condolence messages.
- During the session, CPI Liberation members dressed in black kurtas protested against the recent extensive voter list update process implemented in Bihar.
- AIMIM MLA Akhtarul Iman raised slogans against the SIR inside the Assembly, prompting Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav to intervene and ask him to take his seat, while also calling for cooperation to ensure smooth proceedings.
- Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary assured that there is no cause for concern and emphasized that every legitimate voter's name will remain intact, while Mehboob Alam vowed to continue the struggle both within the legislative assembly and beyond.
- The Speaker said this session would be the final one before upcoming polls on July 25 and requested cooperation, indicating tensions over SIR could affect the electoral climate.
