"Mom, I'm Lonely": An App that Saved a Mother From Eating Alone Wins Award at MIT-Sponsored Competition, Created by a High School Student From Naha City.
"I want to alleviate my mother's loneliness with an app." Karen Kochi (17), a second-year student at Kansai Soka High School (Osaka Prefecture) from Naha City, developed "Kokyo," an app to reduce the amount of time her mother, who lives alone in Okinawa, spends eating alone. In July, it won the "Design Excellence Award" at a competition hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States.
