Adam Copeland Wins First Non-AEW Or WWE Match Since 2001 - Fightful
Copeland won a rare independent match after interference, weapons and a Rhino save in a main event that marked his first first-time venue appearance.
On Saturday, Adam Copeland defeated Steve Maclin in the main event of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling's MLP Northern Rising at the historic Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario.
Wrestling at the famous Maple Leaf Gardens was a bucket list item for Copeland, who returned to the ring in 2020 and expressed emotion about performing where he once watched childhood heroes.
During the chaotic match, Maclin used a goalie mask and tables before Deonna Purrazzo interfered with pepper spray; Rhino made the save, allowing Copeland to hit a final spear.
Reflecting on the night, Copeland said, "Tonight, this building opens its doors to another generation," noting he was there to write the next chapter for everyone fighting to make their mark.
This event marked Copeland's first non-WWE or AEW match since 2001, when he wrestled for the Heartland Wrestling Association; fans can access results from the PPV event via MyAEW and Fightful.
