MLB to question Dodgers team doctor over alleged involvement in PED use by Conor McGregor, per report
Investigators will ask Neal ElAttrache whether he ever supported banned drug use by baseball players after a report tied him to Conor McGregor treatment.
MLB investigators will question Los Angeles Dodgers team doctor Neal ElAttrache after The New York Times reported Thursday he supported performance-enhancing drugs for UFC star Conor McGregor's 2021 leg recovery.
In 2021, McGregor broke both bones in his lower left leg during a UFC bout; Dr. ElAttrache oversaw surgery and reportedly sent him to a specialist who prescribed banned drugs.
Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Agreement, in place since 2006, mandates 80-game suspensions for first-time offenders and 162 games for second-time offenders; Alex Rodriguez received a record 211-game ban for the Biogenesis scandal.
Addressing the reports, Dr. ElAttrache told The Times he "purposely wasn't involved" in the consultant's evaluation or prescribing medication, stating treatment aimed only to optimize fracture healing.
The league is conducting the probe out of due diligence, focusing on whether ElAttrache ever supported PED use by baseball players, though MLB notes it knows of no player allegations.
