Skenes Wins 2nd Straight Start After 9-Game Winless Slide, Pirates Rout Brewers 14-5 with 10-Run 4th
Paul Skenes allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings as Pittsburgh scored 10 in the fourth and completed a three-game sweep.
On Sunday, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes won his second straight start as the team routed the Milwaukee Brewers 14-5 to complete a three-game sweep heading into the All-Star break.
The Pirates scored 10 runs in the fourth inning, breaking open the game and ending Skenes's nine-game winless slide after he had been 0-6 in nine starts before beating Atlanta on Tuesday.
Marcell Ozuna homered and Henry Davis added an RBI single during the decisive inning, while Jared Koenig forced in a run after hitting Bryan Reynolds with a pitch, boosting the advantage to 9-2.
Milwaukee scratched hard-throwing Jacob Misiorowski on Saturday due to arm fatigue, though both he and Skenes were selected as All-Stars who will skip pitching in Tuesday's showcase.
Starting Friday, Pittsburgh opens a three-game series at Cleveland while the Brewers begin a home series against Miami on the same day after the All-Star break concludes.
