Misuse of stimulant medications for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has declined sharply. In 2023, approximately 3.7% of adults younger than 30 misused these medications, down from 7.5% in 2016. In 2023, 1.9% of adults of all ages misused them, with misuse more common among younger adults, white adults, people living in cities and college students. The results were published in the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology.
