Mississippi teen arrested for conspiring to shoot up Indiana high school
Two 17-year-olds face 20 to 40 years in prison for plotting a school shooting with plans shared via social media and video, authorities said.
- On Feb. 11, 2026, authorities charged Melanie Little, 17, of Mississippi, and Alexis Pickett, 17, at Morristown Junior-Senior High School, over an alleged plot.
- The probe began in December when Rhonda Nicholson, Pickett's mother, alerted sheriff's police about concerning behavior, and Shelby County Prosecutor Brad Landwerlen credited the tip, saying it 'saved a bunch of lives.'
- Court documents show Alexis Pickett sent Little a video of the school layout and photos of targets and firearms, while Pickett's devices held images of the 1999 Columbine gunmen and her Halloween costume.
- Both teens face attempted murder and conspiracy charges, with Little held in Mississippi and Indiana beginning extradition, while Pickett is held on $1 million bond and has a trial set for April 20, 2026.
