'She Just Heard It Meow': Family Digs Through Mississippi Tornado Rubble and Finds Tiny Kitten Alive
The kitten was the third rescued since Wednesday night’s tornado, while the storm damaged the Wash Mobile Home Park and left some injuries, officials said.
In Bogue Chitto, Mississippi, a family discovered a kitten trapped in the ruins of their home on Friday, marking the third kitten rescued since the tornado struck Wednesday night.
Sweeping through Lincoln County and four other counties, a tornado destroyed the Wash Mobile Home Park in Bogue Chitto, leaving widespread damage across the region.
Hearing a sound from the rubble, rescuers dug through debris to locate the kitten. "She just heard it meow," a resident said, describing the discovery.
The United Cajun Navy reported finding at least one other kitten overnight. While injuries occurred at the Wash Mobile Home Park, officials confirmed no fatalities.
Families continue sifting through the ruins of their homes following the disaster. Survivors now prioritize finding a safe place to stay while assessing widespread damage throughout Mississippi.
