Joe Senser, Vikings Tight End and Twin Cities Restaurateur, Dies at 69
The former Vikings tight end was a one-time Pro Bowler whose career ended after a knee injury and later became a radio commentator and restaurant owner.
On Thursday, the Minnesota Vikings announced that former Pro Bowl tight end Joe Senser has died at the age of 69.
Drafted in the sixth round in 1979, Senser quickly became a standout, remaining the only Vikings tight end to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a single season.
Although a knee injury curtailed his playing career after four seasons, Senser later transitioned into broadcasting with the Vikings Radio Network and owned several sports bars.
Vikings President Mark Wilf and Chairman Zygi Wilf issued a statement praising Senser's "warmth and welcoming spirit" and his lasting impact on the organization and community.
Following a massive stroke in 2016, Senser remained a well-regarded figure who impacted fans through his charitable efforts and positive personality.
