The 70th anniversary of the Východná Folklore Festival, the largest showcase of Slovak folklore, was tense. Culture Minister Martina Šimkovičová (for the SNS), who described the festival as her "showcase", was repeatedly booed by the audience when she arrived at the amphitheater. Folklorists even sang her a folk song.
At the opening of the Východná festival, the minister was booed, despite the fact that the Ministry of Culture provided significant financial support for the festival.
