Despite the ban on the substance − a suspected carcinogen − as a food additive in France in 2020, and across Europe in 2022, it continues to be used in everyday products such as medication, toothpaste and makeup.
Nanoparticles of this compound have been detected in all human and animal milks tested, as well as in almost all infant milks. Yet titanium dioxide has been banned as a food additive (E171) since 2020. However, there are still many other sources of exposure.
Despite its official ban, a compound considered to be a carcinogen persists in some infant milks. French scientists reveal the results of a study that may well upset our eyes on infant feeding.
