Motorist Shows Moments Military Plane Crash Lands
The Air Force Special Operations Command is investigating the crash of a Skyraider II aircraft that landed in a field with no reported injuries, officials said.
- On Thursday, an Air Force OA-1K Skyraider II crash-landed near Southeast 119th Street and Sooner Road, southeast Oklahoma City, with a motorist capturing video of the descent.
- Assigned to the 492d Special Operations Wing, the Air Force OA-1K Skyraider II was on a training mission operating out of Will Rogers Air National Guard Base when it crash-landed.
- Matthew Topchian said `Like really, really low` to describe the plane's close descent above trees, while a motorist recounted `As it kept coming coming coming, I was like that plane is about to hit me`.
- Fire officials said two crew were aboard, including one civilian contractor and one active-duty U.S. Air Force member, and Scott Douglas reported neither was injured, saying it was refreshing to see both pilots OK.
- The Air Force Special Operations Command said the cause of the crash is still under investigation, and officials have not released findings as the formal inquiry continues.
