New Mike Leigh, Pablo Larrain Films in San Sebastian Competition
The festival adds world premieres and returning directors, including Pablo Larraín’s adaptation of Mariana Enríquez stories and Mike Leigh’s new feature.
- On Tuesday, the San Sebastian Film Festival revealed new competition titles featuring works from acclaimed directors Mike Leigh, Pablo Larraín, and Hans Petter Moland.
- Running September 18-26 in the Basque Country, the 74th San Sebastian Film Festival continues blending established international auteurs with emerging talent in its Official Selection.
- Competition entries include Leigh's 'Tender Loving Care' and Moland's 'Growth of the Soil,' alongside a 4-hour feature version of Larraín's Netflix horror miniseries 'My Sad Dead.'
- Additional selections feature French director Nicole Garcia's 'Milo,' Japanese novelist Maha Harada's directorial debut 'In My Father's Room,' and Yeşim Ustaoğlu's 'What Remains.'
- These entries join three Spanish features announced July 17: Mikel Gurrea's 'Sants,' Javier Ruiz Caldera's 'Five Minutes,' and Roberto Bueso's 'El mal padre,' completing the main competition lineup.
