A Costa Rican court acquitted former President Miguel Ángel Rodríguez of embezzlement in the 25-year-old INS Reaseguros case, rejecting all charges.
Former President Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Echeverría (1998-2002) was acquitted for embezzlement in the Criminal Court of Finance of the Second Judicial Circuit of San José, for the Reinsurance case, where events reported 25 years ago were tried.The case refers to alleged undue payments, made by UK reinsurers to public officials in 2001, to become the reinsurers of the National Insurance Institute (INS).
