Midjourney, the AI Image Generator, Is Developing a Full-Body Ultrasonic Scanner
The company says the scanner can produce a 3D body map in under 60 seconds and plans to open its first spa next year.
- Midjourney unveiled its new medical division and The Midjourney Scanner, a full-body imaging machine designed to complete scans in under 60 seconds using advanced ultrasound technology.
- Developed with Butterfly Network, the device uses 40 Butterfly Ultrasound-on-Chip imaging modules to create a '3D map of your body, down to a fraction of a millimeter,' the company said.
- While future medical applications require FDA clearance, Midjourney Medical currently focuses on 'body composition maps' that do not require diagnostic-level approval, the company said.
- Holz plans to open the first Midjourney Spa in San Francisco's Union Square before the end of 2027, housing 10 Scanners alongside gyms and cold plunges.
- The company aims to have 50,000 Scanners worldwide by 2031, claiming that with enough early imaging, the world could potentially avoid 30 percent of all deaths and 50 percent of all healthcare costs.
