- On Friday, Microsoft halted the rollout of Windows update KB5079391 after users encountered installation errors with a 0x80073712 failure code on 24H2 and 25H2 systems.
- Released last Thursday, the optional cumulative update included 29 changes like Smart App Control and Display improvements, plus enhancements for Windows Hello Fingerprint reliability and Windows Recovery Environment stability on ARM64 devices.
- Microsoft said: "To prevent additional impact while the issue is investigated, Microsoft has temporarily limited the availability of this update," as affected users reported that "Some update files are missing or have problems."
- This follows one week ago when Microsoft released an emergency update fixing Microsoft account sign-in breaks across Teams, Edge, and OneDrive, while also addressing security flaws in the Routing and Remote Access Service this month.
- Windows boss Pavan Davuluri recently wrote to users: "Thank you for holding us to a high standard," as Microsoft aims to resolve these installation issues before the next Patch Tuesday updates arrive on April 14.
