With a colossal investment of more than $13 billion, Microsoft has obtained the green light to build 15 new data centres in Wisconsin. This titanium project, built on the remains of an aborted Foxconn industrial project, crystallises the tensions between the unbridled race to computing power for AI and its heavy environmental consequences.
