Michigan photographer Marcella Hadden featured in DIA’s Native American exhibit

Marcella Hadden’s photography highlights Anishinaabe culture and raises awareness for Indigenous women’s safety, featuring in a Detroit Institute of Arts exhibit with two selected pieces.

For the last 13 years, Michigan artist Marcella Hadden has worked as a photographer in Isabella County, specializing in capturing images of newborns, families and weddings. In September, her photography moved beyond her studio and into the Detroit Institute of Arts for its “Contemporary Anishinaabe Art: A Continuation” exhibit. Overseen by Denene De Quintal, DIA’s assistant curator of Native American art, a call for Anishinaabe artists went out.…
