The free event will bring together more than 24 panelists from 18 organizations to discuss recruitment, credentialing and workforce integration.
Michigan Language Assessment will host a free, two-day symposium titled Global Solutions to the U.S. Nursing Shortage on May 13-14, 2026, bringing together policymakers, healthcare employers, and recruitment agencies to address workforce challenges in the United States.
Strengthening the United States healthcare workforce through global collaboration is the event's primary focus, emphasizing internationally trained nurses and the systems supporting their transition into the U.S. healthcare environment.
More than 24 expert panelists from 18 organizations will convene to share insights on recruitment, credentialing, and workforce integration. Dr. Fernando Fleurquin, special advisor at Michigan Language Assessment, emphasized the need to "work across sectors and borders to develop sustainable solutions."
Sessions will cover nursing shortage trends, workforce policy updates, ethical recruitment practices, licensure pathways, and employer strategies for nurse onboarding and retention across state and federal levels.
Registration is free and open to the public, with advance registration required; the symposium serves government authorities, educators, and healthcare employers navigating the United States healthcare landscape.
