Michigan, Duke, Arizona, Iowa State headline preliminary seeds from NCAA selection committee
- Saturday's CBS reveal by the tournament selection committee named Michigan, Duke, Arizona and Iowa State as the four No. 1 seeds in its top 16, with a month until Selection Sunday.
- The selection committee released preliminary rankings, and since early reveals began in 2017, more than 80% of teams in the early top 16 remain there by Selection Sunday.
- The rest of the top 16 included Texas Tech, Michigan State, Vanderbilt and Virginia, with Keith Gill saying Iowa State edged UConn and Houston for the fourth No. seed.
- Under that scenario, the Cyclones would head to the South region and play in Houston for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight if they advance that far, with the bracket unveiled on March 15.
- Although preliminary, the early reveal doesn't lock Iowa State in as a No. 4 seed, but many prognosticators projected them as a 2 seed in recent weeks.
