Michael J. Fox to be promoted within Order of Canada at Rideau Hall today
Rideau Hall says the honour recognizes Fox’s global advocacy and fundraising, including $2.5 billion raised for Parkinson’s research.
On Oct. 2, 2026, actor and Parkinson advocate Michael Fox is being honoured at Rideau Hall in OTTAWA this morning in a ceremony recognizing his contributions to the disease.
Rideau Hall says the honour stems from Fox's 'powerful global advocacy and unflinching honesty about Parkinson,' with the actor having raised $2.5 billion for research into the disease.
Fox is among 51 people expected at the ceremony today to be inducted into, or promoted to a higher level within, the Order of Canada.
Already a member of the Order of Canada, Fox continues to share candid experiences about the challenges faced by those living with Parkinson symptoms.
Parkinson is a progressive nervous system disorder resulting in tremors, stiffness, and slowness; Fox has long championed against the disease through his advocacy and research funding efforts.
