Miami's Bam Adebayo wins NBA's Social Justice Champion award
The league will donate $100,000 on his behalf after Adebayo was recognized for education, food security and youth programs.
- On Friday, the NBA named Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo the 2026 Social Justice Champion, presenting him with the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Trophy for advancing equality for historically disadvantaged groups.
- The Bam Adebayo Foundation invested more than $563,000 across 18 initiatives this season, focusing on educational equity, food security, and youth development in South Florida and North Carolina.
- Adebayo funded transportation for more than 19,000 students to the Miami Book Fair, provided supplies to the SEED School, and renovated a Heat-themed basketball court at the Camillus House Homeless Shelter.
- The NBA will donate $100,000 to his charitable organization. "I don't take it for granted, but this is an award for a lot of people that can't speak," Adebayo said.
- Competing against finalists including Jaylen Brown and Harrison Barnes, Adebayo became the award's sixth recipient while also earning his sixth All-Defensive Second Team nomination over the last seven seasons.
