The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has issued a statement regarding the debate that has been reignited by the use of the term "Turkish" instead of "Turk" by some politicians and businesspeople. Journalist Mehmet Çek also stated, "I don't know of a more advanced, more contemporary, and more inclusive definition of nation and state than the concept of the Turkish nation."
MHP's leading figure, Feti Yıldız, stated that the concept of being a "Turkish citizen" became history with those who worked with the occupiers during the Armistice of Mudros.
