MG Plug-in Hybrids Will Switch to Semi-Solid-State Batteries in 2027
The new SolidCore system is set to improve range, charging speed and cold-weather performance as MG expands its electrified lineup.
- MG plans to equip its next-generation plug-in hybrid electric vehicles with semi-solid-state battery technology starting in 2027, beginning with the MG ZS Plug-in Hybrid+ followed by the MG HS and MG S9 SUVs.
- MG's 'SolidCore' semi-solid-state battery technology delivers improved range, faster charging, and better cold-weather performance than conventional batteries, technology previously introduced in the MG4 EV Urban hatchback earlier this year.
- The new 'Plug-in Hybrid +' system features 1.1L or 1.5L turbocharged engines, while the intelligent drive system maintains thermal efficiency above 40% across approximately 90% of driving conditions, the company said.
