Following the scandal over Lithuania, along with the EU and Canada, withdrawing support for a conference on disinformation in Vilnius due to US pressure, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys says that the US cannot be compared to Russia and China.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is not answering whether it withdrew from the disinformation conference due to pressure from the US presidential administration, noting that the decision was made due to the event's program being partially "not in line with the government's positions" and national interests.
At the center of American annoyance was a panel titled "The US as a FIMI Threat," with the Trump administration asking governments not to participate in the European conference #Disinfo2026.
