Frankie Montas hasn’t been sharp in any of his five minor-league outings and Friday night was his worst performance yet. The nine-year veteran was lit up for eight runs in 1 2/3 innings. Before the game, David Stearns said Montas is “still feeling his way back” from the lat injury that was discovered after he felt pain in a February bullpen session before spring training.
