Ukraine to Introduce Yellow and Red Air Alert Levels

  • Ukraine will introduce two air alert levels: yellow for drone threats and red for missile, ballistic, or large-scale attacks, as announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after discussions with Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi.
  • The General Staff, Air Force, government, and other ministries will jointly update threat criteria weekly and determine which incidents fall under yellow or red alerts, with corresponding new siren sounds being developed to indicate threat levels.
  • The updated air alert system removes the previous all-clear siren, uses sirens only at the start of an alert, and implements clearer geographic targeting for more precise warnings.
  • During yellow alerts, Kyiv's Green metro line will fully operate, curfews may be shortened, surface transport will increase, and additional support measures will be provided for businesses, shelters, and medical facilities adapting to the new safety requirements.
