Ask the Meteorologist: How warm was September, and when do we cool off?
You felt it, I felt it, we all felt it -- September was very warm. We are even starting October with abnormally warm temperatures. Let's look back at just how warm September was and look ahead to how temperatures will feel in October and over the next couple of weeks.
Warm and mostly sunny weather will persist in the Czech Republic into early October. Daily highs will hover around 20°C, rising to 25°C in places. Rain will only appear temporarily and rather in places. No significant change in the weather is in sight yet.
Mornings will be cool, with fog locally in the valleys, somewhat more frequent than Sunday when it will be present in some lowlands.
The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) has published a new weather outlook for the next four weeks. It offers both good and bad news. While the first days of October will still bring a pleasant Indian summer with temperatures climbing to 22 °C, meteorological models are already clear about the date when the warm autumn will be put to an end. When will we expect morning frost and a drop in daytime temperatures to just 12 °C?
