Meta's Muse AI Agent Has Been Downloaded Half a Million Times — With a Serious Bug
- Meta recently launched a macOS version of Muse following dedicated iOS and Android app releases earlier this month, expanding its personal AI agent across multiple devices to compete with rival services like Grok Bot.
- Muse organizes files and completes tasks by pulling data from Messages, Calendar, and Notes with user permission. Users maintain control by setting permissions and reviewing actions the AI takes on their behalf.
- Analytics firm Sensor Tower reported Muse garnered over 730,000 downloads in the U.S. during its first few days, outperforming the Meta AI app's 707,000 downloads. Both Instinct and Muse have seen significant traction recently.
- Meta says, "Start something on your phone, check in from your laptop, nudge it from WhatsApp. Your Muse keeps the thread across every device, so what you hand off in the morning is handled by dinner." The company also allows assistants to contact other people's assistants.
- Expanding Muse's capabilities, Meta added the ability to place calls to U.S. businesses, with the feature rolling out first to users who request it. This matches calling capabilities recently launched by rival Instinct, putting both platforms on equal footing.
