Meta’s Newest Smart Glasses Ditch the Camera to Avoid the ‘Pervert-Glasses’ Tag
Meta said Muse can book reservations, order groceries and handle other tasks through partner integrations as it expands its AI glasses lineup.
- At the annual Connect conference on Wednesday, Meta unveiled new AI-powered smart glasses and lightweight VR glasses, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg emphasizing the company's commitment to putting technology directly into users' hands.
- Meta's Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang described the newly launched AI agent Muse as the "centerpiece" of the company's vision, bringing "personal superintelligence" to everyone by handling travel planning and reservations.
- Expanding its wearable lineup, Meta introduced the Ray-Ban Meta Audio, available in October for $349, while Zuckerberg announced the upcoming "Muse Charm," a keychain-sized device packing the "whole Muse experience" for December.
- Meta also revealed lightweight VR glasses arriving in spring 2027 for $1,300; weighing 3.5 ounces, the device enables "VR Enhanced Cinema" and functions as a gaming console using eye-tracking technology.
- Zuckerberg detailed an "FDA-cleared, over-the-counter hearing aid" feature for existing glasses launching later this year for $150, reflecting his long-standing belief that wearable AI will eventually replace smartphones.
