Meta offers free AI glasses to eligible legally blind veterans

- The initiative was inspired by 82nd Airborne veteran Don Overton, who helped develop features and said, "I got my independence back."
- Using built-in AI, the glasses assist veterans in reading documents and identifying objects, while voice commands allow users to interact with their devices.
- To reach veterans, the Blinded Veterans Association is partnering with the American Council of the Blind and Tunnels to Towers, with approved nonprofits providing hands-on training via TechSoup.
- Meta President and Vice Chairman Dina Powell McCormick said the company aimed to "reach every blind veteran in America," providing recipients "true autonomy.
