Messy homes sabotaging Americans’ weekend
Survey respondents said chores leave them with 4 hours of personal time a day and 69% feel overwhelmed by the never-ending task of cleaning.
- Conducted by Talker Research for Swiffer, a new survey of 2,000 Americans found the average person loses six hours a week prepping, cleaning, and recuperating—essentially an entire workday dedicated solely to home maintenance.
- A majority of those surveyed feel overwhelmed by the nature of cleaning; in the past three months, this messy state caused the average American to miss two fun events and avoid hosting guests twice.
- Among household chores, laundry and cleaning the bathroom are most cited by respondents who missed fun activities, while nearly half require at least 30 minutes just to mentally prepare for mopping.
- Being an adult is less fun than expected for seven in ten respondents, who estimate having only four hours of personal time daily outside of work and sleep.
- Dave Landers, Vice President, North America Surface Care, Procter & Gamble said, "It's clear that as adults, we treasure what free time we have left.
