The Black Series Is Back! Mercedes-AMG Confirms New Hardcore Track Car and GT3 Racer
Mercedes-AMG uses the Concept AMG GT Track Sport for new GT3 race car and next Black Series model, aiming to set performance benchmarks and break motorsport records.
- Mercedes-AMG confirmed this week it is developing a new "most extreme" Black Series road car and a GT3 racing variant, using a concept vehicle as a shared technology platform.
- Since 2006, the Black Series designation has represented the pinnacle of the Mercedes-AMG range, with the previous iteration serving as the brand's most powerful production car between 2021 and 2023.
- Dynamic testing on the Nordschleife has been underway since October 2025, with Christoph Sagemüller, Head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, confirming the team has gained important insights from initial tests.
- To distinguish the models, red will represent the GT3 racing car and yellow-green the Black Series road car, as Michael Schiebe, Mercedes-Benz head of production, aims to "set the next record-breaker."
- While technical specifications remain unconfirmed, the project reflects a commitment to maximum performance, and used Black Series models remain highly sought after in South Africa, occasionally advertised for up to R13m.
