Taipei, June 20 (CNA) Tropical Storm Mekkhala is forecast to strengthen into a typhoon on Monday and could come close enough to Taiwan later in the week to prompt a sea warning, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Saturday.
The forecast indicates that Typhoon Mekkhala could reach its strongest intensity at level 12 (118-133 km/h), with gusts up to level 16. Current forecasts show no signs of the typhoon moving into the East Sea off the coast of Vietnam.
