Meghan Duggan Named GM of Expansion Hamilton Team
On Friday, the Professional Women's Hockey League named three-time U.S. Olympian Meghan Duggan as general manager of its new Hamilton expansion team, while Troy Ryan will serve as coach and general manager in San Jose.
The four new franchises, including teams in Detroit and Las Vegas, expand the PWHL to 12 teams for the upcoming season, doubling the league's size since it began play in 2024.
Duggan, who spent the past five years in player development with the New Jersey Devils, said the opportunity to build a culture in Hamilton from the ground up is 'a privilege.'
Departing the Toronto Sceptres, Ryan becomes the PWHL's first dual-role coach and general manager, stating he wants to 'build a team that plays with purpose' and represents the Bay Area.
With the expansion signing process set to begin in two weeks, the league will hold its draft on June 17 as both general managers prepare to fill their respective rosters.
