Mega Millions Ticket Holder in Florida Wins $800 Million Jackpot
The winner can choose 30 annual payments or a $344.2 million cash prize before federal taxes, officials said.
On Tuesday, July 28, a single ticket sold in Florida won the $800 million Mega Millions jackpot, the game's 10th largest prize and biggest lottery win of 2026.
The winning numbers drawn were 34, 48, 49, 59, 70, with a gold Mega Ball of 12; lottery officials have not yet identified the winner or the store location.
After coming forward, the winner can choose between a one-time cash prize of $344.2 million or 30 annual installments; most winners select the lump-sum option.
Lump-Sum winners face a mandatory 24% federal withholding, further reduced by a 37% federal marginal tax rate, potentially cutting winnings to $216.8 million; Florida does not levy state income tax.
The Mega Millions jackpot resets to an estimated $50 million for Friday, July 31; meanwhile, the Powerball jackpot has climbed to $663 million for Wednesday's drawing.
