The Euro-Mediterranean Earthquake Monitoring Centre reported that a earthquake of 4.8 degrees on the Richter scale shook the area of the capital of Chile, which includes Santiago, today Friday. The Centre confirmed that the earthquake fell at a depth of 98 kilometres, initially estimated at five degrees before reducing it to 4.8 degrees. No reports of human loss or material damage were received immediately.
