The first week of June, I had the immense privilege of serving as the health educator on a medical mission trip to Chimaltenango, Guatemala, with Medical Missions Outreach (MMO), where I serve as the Public Health coordinator. While this was my first mission trip with MMO, it was an experience that reinforced something I have come to deeply appreciate through my work in public health: Improving health is about much more than treating illness.
