McCully Fire north of Sumpter surpasses 4,000 acres

BAKER COUNTY – (UPDATE 8/24 @ 2:11 p.m. from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office) The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest had issued an emergency closure in the areas surrounding the McCully Fires (4015 acres) and the North Pole Fire (242 acres). This closure encompasses both fires and is in place for public safety and to safely facilitate firefighting operations in the area.
