The mayor of Zoutleeuw, Guy Dumst (CD&V), regrets that his city is not receiving subsidies in the fight against radicalization. A total of 49 local authorities are receiving 2.4 million euros to further develop their approach to polarization and extremism, but Zoutleeuw's application was rejected. "Radicalization initially happens under the radar. By the time it becomes visible, it may already be too late," says the mayor.
