May 17th Celebration in Rogaland

In the sea of people on the train and in the square, Altaposten found a number of Alta residents and a handful of visitors who were in town to participate in the May 17th celebration.

With bright sunshine, fresh wind and a great program, it looked like there would be a record turnout at Presthaugen in Lom on National Day. Experienced number crunchers who were asked speculated that there could be as many as 900 people present. See large photo series!

As is tradition, the Chief of the Year was proclaimed at the schoolyard in Høvåg on May 17th.

May 17th was a day of celebration and reflection for the many who took part in the National Day celebrations in Hornindal.

Seasoned with sun, cloudless skies, 20 degrees Celsius and "Optimist" and "Tak Øve Feda" thundering from speakers in the children's procession, the May 17th celebration in Kvinesdal could not have started in a better way.
