Mattel Names New CEO
Lynch brings media and technology experience as Mattel expands into film, digital games and other entertainment verticals, with Barbie topping 2023 box office.
- On Wednesday, Mattel named Roger Lynch as its new chairman and chief executive officer, succeeding Ynon Kreiz. Lynch, a board member since 2018, will assume the chairman role on October 2 and CEO duties by November 2.
- Lynch, who led Condé Nast as CEO since 2019, departs the media company to join Mattel. Lead independent director Mike Perlis will serve as interim CEO while the board searches for a permanent successor.
- Ynon Kreiz leaves an eight-year legacy of transforming Mattel into an IP-driven entertainment company, having achieved record-breaking success with the Barbie film and strengthened global market share in dolls, vehicles, and infant segments.
- "I am honored by the Board's confidence in me and couldn't be more excited to lead the incredible team at Mattel," Lynch said, outlining plans to build on the company's powerful foundation and leverage its iconic brand portfolio.
- Lynch previously drove significant growth at Condé Nast, where commerce revenue grew by 170% and digital subscriptions by 155% since 2020, positioning him to scale Mattel's digital and entertainment expansion strategy.
