A settlement secured by Gov. Josh Shapiro and a coalition of other state leaders has saved a longstanding federal program that provides education, jobs and volunteer opportunities to thousands of Pennsylvanians each year. The settlement, announced by Shapiro on Friday, was the result of a lawsuit filed by Shapiro and 23 other governors and attorneys general in response to the Trump administration’s 2025 move to dismantle AmeriCorps.
