Star Wars / Marvel Super Heroes Crossover "Hope Assembles" Announced by Marvel Comics

- On Tuesday, Marvel Comics announced "Hope Assembles," a five-issue limited series launching in January 2027 written by filmmaker Kevin Smith with art by David Marquez, marking the first official crossover between the Disney-owned franchises.
- The project commemorates the 50th anniversary of the original Star Wars film. Outgoing Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski called the crossover a "farewell gift," noting the team waited for the right opportunity to unite the universes.
- Following a "reality-shattering spell," Star Wars characters including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Darth Vader will enter Marvel's Earth-616 to meet Spider-Man, the Avengers, and the Hulk.
- Filmmaker Smith described the project as a "dream come true" since reading Marvel's Star Wars comics in the 1980s. Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain called the work a "true love letter" to both franchises.
- With the first issue arriving in January 2027, the five-part series will conclude in May 2027. Incoming Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Stephen Wacker noted the franchises have been "intertwined for 50 years," setting high expectations for the collaboration.
