The arrival of more than 5,000 cattle imported by the company SuKarne to the port of Mazatlan, destined for the municipality of Tlahualilo, Durango, sparked alarms among ranchers of the region, Heraclio Rodríguez, leader of the Barzón, together with other producers, expressed his concern, noting that this type of imports represent a health risk, especially due to the threat of the worm sweeper.
Faced with the third closure of the U.S. border to exports of Mexican cattle due to the appearance of a case of worm sweeper in Veracruz, Luis Fernando Haro, general director of the National Agropecuario Council (CNA), commented: “This is not a political or party issue, it is science and protocols.”
The National Livestock Confederation has recommended that the federal authorities not allow the import of livestock.
