Inflation was 4.4 percent in May after 4.2 percent in April.

Hungary's inflation accelerated further, reaching 4.4%. Experts expect inflation to remain at the 4.2% level registered in April. It seems that the surprising factor was the price of food, notes Portfolio. On the other hand, it is favourable that basic inflation has been able to drop easily.

Consumer prices in May exceeded the same monthly values of the previous year by an average of 4.4 percent. Compared to April, the increase was 0.2 percent on average, and in the case of food, the increase was even greater. The latest survey on consumer prices by the Central Statistical Office has been published.
