4 Florida Firefighters Arrested After Alleged Waterboarding Hazing Incident

Four employees face felony charges after a 19-year-old coworker was assaulted and restrained in a hazing incident involving robbery and waterboarding, sheriff's office reported.

  • On Nov. 16 at Fire Station 21 in Ocala, four Marion County Fire Rescue employees were arrested and fired after an alleged waterboarding hazing, deputies said.
  • Amid a dispute over a TikTok video, colleagues smeared grease on the unnamed 19-year-old crew member and sought the video on his phone, which he refused, deputies said.
  • Tate Trauthwein threw the victim's boots into nearby woods, Edward Kenny III grabbed him causing a fall, then colleagues pulled down his pants, struck him with a belt, took his phone, and waterboarded him three times.
  • On Wednesday, detectives arrested Edward Kenny III, Seth Day, Tate Trauthwein and Kaylee Bradley; all four were fired by Marion County Fire Rescue and held at Marion County Jail awaiting court.
  • Fire Chief James Banta said the behavior was unacceptable and contrary to core values, and Marion County Fire Rescue is reviewing the Marion County Sheriff's Office investigation, while commissioner Carl Zalak called the station `like a frat house` Wednesday.
