‘A Lot of Waiting’: A Glimpse Into Final Cut Day of CFL Training Camp
Corey Mace said the team reset its standard as competition intensified in the running back room and roster decisions approached.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders concluded their three-week training camp on Friday, cutting 19 players on Saturday to finalize their active roster for the 2026 CFL season.
Head coach Corey Mace emphasized high standards throughout camp, stating, "They are not going to accept anything less than the expectation and the bars that we have reset for ourselves."
While the club retained all four quarterbacks, running back Mario Anderson was among 19 players released; the team also added 13 players to the practice roster.
Special teams underwent significant changes as Oscar Chapman secured the punting job over Jesse Mirco, who was released; Brett Lauther was replaced as kicker in the off-season.
The Roughriders face a Week 1 bye before beginning their Grey Cup defence on June 13 against the B.C. Lions at Mosaic Stadium.
